Launch Day is Under an Hour Away (in the UK)

Catchy headline – watch out for my album. The UK launch is almost upon us. Tomorrow will see Windows Phone 7 officially available to the public here in the UK. The first member of public to have purchased one was in New Zealand as Engadget explain. For those who are early in line (the first 20 to be precise) at the Orange shop on Oxford Street, MS have lined up extra goodies. However, it seems that if you manage to get a demo in  shop, there may be extra stuff for you as well. (Presumably why stocks lasts ;)). Not long now…..

Confirmed Launch Partners for WP7

Pocket-lint managed to get a one-to-one briefing with Greg Sullivan, senior product manager, has said that consumers can expect handsets from Dell, Asus, LG, HTC, and Samsung at launch. Most of those were rumoured to be launch partners, but now they’re confirmed. The Samsung devices sent to developers this week will not be the same version at launch and were simply made for technical preview purposes. Although details of each models were not shown, it was confirmed that some models will have a keyboard and the OS will not be tied to any one operator in the UK or US. It seems that consumers will be getting plenty of choice when it comes to picking their flavour of WP7.

Thanks to Pocket-lint for the information.

As mentioned in WPC, WP7 will be launching in 5 languages, specifically English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. According to MS Netherlands, handsets may be delayed till April 2011 because of the lack of Dutch language support. However, there may be good news. MS are currently in talks with carriers to bring some handsets some handsets, presumably in English. Stay tuned.
